VICE PRESIDENT, EPC

Job Description

38DN is actively seeking a Vice President, EPC who is a proactive, self-driven professional with a wealth of experience managing various aspects of construction, particularly for solar and battery storage projects.  This crucial role is tailored to construction professionals with an interest in long-term asset ownership.

In this capacity, you will:

  • Lead the selection process for contractors and equipment vendors, conducting comprehensive due diligence, including assessment of modules, inverters, racking, and medium-voltage equipment.

  • Negotiate and administer construction and supply agreements, encompassing official notices, change orders, RFIs, pay applications, construction updates, safety procedures, milestones, certificates, and commissioning.

  • Delve into site-specific design nuances and lead engineering drawing reviews.

  • Support the development of energy models and refining for value optimization.

  • Rigorously control project budgets and milestone payments, which includes meticulous internal reporting and forecasting.

  • Guarantee project quality by coordinating on-site inspections and liaising with third-party providers when necessary.

  • Regularly attend project progress meetings and conduct on-site visits with construction teams to ensure alignment with project design and schedule.

  • Systematically identify, monitor, and communicate project risks while keeping all project documentation up to date.

  • Effectively communicate project updates, risks, and issues both within the company and with external partners.

  • Serve as 38DN's in-house expert on project engineering, construction, and EPC contracting, offering insights and guidance across the organization, including to the project development and acquisition teams for pre-construction, development-stage projects.

  • Lead after-action reviews to cultivate continuous improvement and contribute to the evolution of internal operating policies and standards.

  • Following completion of construction, support handover to 38DN Asset Management.

  • Collaborate closely with developers, consultants, engineers, and other stakeholders; foster and manage relationships to ensure consistent engagement and alignment with project objectives.

  • Uphold the company's safety program standards, ensuring all projects comply with established safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • 5-9+ years of experience in construction project management, with a particular focus on and interest in renewable energy.

  • Relevant bachelor's degree preferred, advanced degree in a related field is valued but not mandatory.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a history of managing financial, technical, and contractual aspects of construction projects.

  • Experience with contract negotiation and overseeing due diligence processes.

  • Quick to adapt and eager to grow within a thriving, fast-paced environment.

  • Well-organized, vigilant, and competent in juggling multiple project details.

  • Proficient in working under pressure, adhering to deadlines, and embracing additional responsibilities proactively.

VICE PRESIDENT, ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL REPORTING

Job Description

We are seeking a Vice President, Accounting & Financial Reporting who is a proactive, self-driven professional with a wealth of experience in the areas of corporate accounting, bank management, fund accounting, and financial reporting. This role is tailored to accounting and finance professionals who want to apply their experience to develop processes, procedures, and systems to help scale a growing private investment company, with a focus on the energy transition.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage the accounting operations and infrastructure for 38DN at the corporate level as well as for multiple asset investment funds

  • Use financial performance data to analyze performance, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to senior management

  • Manage corporate and asset financial models to track historical performance and forecast future performance

  • Oversee the timely and accurate completion of the monthly close in collaboration with internal and external contributors and stakeholders

  • Prepare financial and cash flow forecasts and monthly and quarterly management reporting packages

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and coordinate external audits

  • Prepare and track annual budget for senior management and external investors

  • Review and authorize payments and cash disbursements

  • Provide clear and concise variance explanations as needed

  • Ensure FP&A reporting is consistent with accounting; resolve discrepancies

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance systems and controls

  • Work cross-functionally with internal investment, M&A, project finance, project development, and asset management teams to deliver monthly and quarterly reports, including actual vs. budget analysis, financial forecasts, and other quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Manage external accounting, legal, and finance resources

 

Key Characteristics:

  • Deep experience with GAAP accounting and FP&A at the corporate and fund level

  • Ability to convey complex financial information in a clear and concise manner

  • High level of proficiency understanding Excel financial models; ability to build models a plus

  • Experience with accounting software including Quick Books

  • Capable of building trust and fostering collaboration

  • Comfort with and desire to work in a less structured, entrepreneurial environment

  • An extremely high level of attention to detail

  • Well-organized, vigilant, and competent in juggling a multitude of projects and priorities

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years of experience in finance or accounting at a public accounting firm, private equity or investment firm, renewable energy company, or a related business

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus

  • CPA preferred

  • Experience with renewable energy or power generation assets and fund accounting

  • Experience with tax equity and project finance debt transactions

  • Intellectual agility and curiosity, analytically oriented , and desire to apply these skills in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines, work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and produce accurate results

  • Accounting software including Quick Books, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, etc

This position is for investment professionals that want to expand their experience in renewable energy transactions, financial modeling, investor management, and new investment origination, while working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The Associate will have the opportunity to manage analyst workstreams and report directly to the managing directors. As such, the Associate should demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to independently lead transactions and external relationships. This position is for someone inspired by the opportunity to develop and take a leadership role within a fast-growing environment.   
 

The Associate will assist the team in all aspects of working with our key partners, including capital providers (equity, tax equity, and debt), project development partners, and external asset management contractors. They will play a critical role in supporting greenfield project development and new market analysis. Responsibilities include: detailed financial modeling, due diligence support, transaction management, asset management, new investment analysis and proposal assembly, management of analysts, and various other business management activities.

The Summer Associate will assist the team in all aspects of working with our key partners, including capital providers (equity, tax equity, and debt), project development partners, and external asset management contractors.
